A people’s uprising, the overthrowing of power, the execution of the rulers – all this unfolds in just ten days. Within this timeframe, the events at the most important locations in Bucharest between 21.12.1989 (Ceausescu’s last speech) and 26.12.1989 (the first TV summary of his trial) are almost completely recorded by camerapeople from Romanian television as well as countless amateur filmmakers. Farocki/Ujică turns the resultant material into a dense, critical analysis of the interrelationship between history and its representation.
